A woman (anonymous) has been attacked by her husband's girlfriend when she tracked the man to the lady's house. According to a relative of the victim, the woman suspecting her husband was with another lady when he told her he was not coming home that evening, trailed him to the house of a particular lady she believed he was having an affair with. The relative said the victim met the suspected lady, who told her that her husband was asleep when she asked about him. Explaining further, the relative indicated that the victim said she saw the lady opening the door all of a sudden, striking her with a stick on her face and subsequently beating her till she went into comma. The victim's in-laws are said to have visited her and pleaded that the matter be settled at home, explaining that she was at fault for going to the culprit's house without her permission. Are the in-laws right?

Grace After the Storm: A Reflection on 1 Peter 5:10

_"But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you."_ – 1 Peter 5:10

Life’s journey is not without trials. There are seasons of pain, uncertainty, and spiritual dryness. But 1 Peter 5:10 reminds us of a powerful truth: God never wastes our suffering. In fact, He uses it as a tool for transformation, not punishment.

The God of All Grace

Grace is more than unmerited favor—it is God’s divine empowerment to endure, grow, and overcome. Peter describes God as “the God of all grace,” meaning His grace covers every aspect of our lives—our past failures, our present struggles, and our future uncertainties.

A Purpose Behind the Pain

Peter doesn’t deny suffering. He acknowledges it: _“after that ye have suffered a while…”_ The suffering is temporary, but the outcome is eternal. God allows seasons of challenge to shape us into stronger, wiser, and more Christ-like individuals.

What God Will Do
The verse outlines four promises that follow the period of suffering:

1. Make you perfect – God matures us, completing what was lacking in our character.

2. Stablish you – He gives us a firm foundation in faith.

3. Strengthen you – He empowers us with spiritual and emotional strength.

4. Settle you – God brings peace, stability, and rest to our lives.

Our Call to Eternal Glory

The end goal of God’s work in us isn’t just survival—it’s eternal glory in Christ Jesus. Everything we endure is preparing us for something far greater than we can imagine.

Conclusion

If you’re going through a difficult season, take heart. God is not distant. His grace is working behind the scenes—shaping, strengthening, and settling you for His glory. The suffering will pass, but the growth it produces will remain forever.

Hold on. Grace is at work.
