Breakdown of the Amnesty:

- 787 first-time offenders will be released.

- 87 death row inmates will have their sentences commuted to life imprisonment.

- 51 life sentences are to be converted to 20-year definite terms.

- 33 seriously ill inmates are to be released on health grounds.

- 36 prisoners aged over 70, regardless of their offenses, have been granted clemency.

- 2 nursing mothers and 2 individuals granted release through petitions are also included.
